New Parser Widget perfect for my Airport Flight information tab on my Netvibes Universe

I was expecting this widget since the beginning of my Netvibes page.

I wanted to grab a just a piece of a website page. In fact I was looking for the Arrivals or Departures from a chosen airport. But I just needed the landings not the ads ;) or the multiple options for travel fares, car rentals, ...

I could not use the Page Web widget from Netvibes because the data I was looking for were not in the upper left corner ... and this widget has no "padding" option. (And when I requsted if it could be added, Netvibes answered me that they had more urgent matters)

So , I could just get my links and check manually outside Netvibes :(

But this new Widget: AUTOMATIC PARSER from Twisterss is simply what I needed !

So easy to use, and I have tried many "self-called" magic widgets!

For me it is a 5*****/5 Widget : a must have if you need frequent updated data not available sous RSS feed.: graphs, timetables,...

If this reads as something familiar or known is because it is..this is the way Clipmarks or Listas from Live Labs work.

The only difference is that they do not have the High Spread Distribution model offered by the UWA platform from netvibes and that is reason enough for this to triumph over them and also because neither Clipmarks or Listas Offer any comparable Widget to users from the data collected in their respective services.

This Widget generator service is just the kind of thing that could finally lure some users from their competition and it is now just a matter of seeing how the new Netvibes Engine (ginger) works for them.

The only modifications I can ask at the moment are:

1. the option for a SCROLLING up & down for a web page to long like my London Heatrow
2. the option for a SIZE (W x L) for the final widget
   

Of course, it depends on the original page to work. So I have arranged an INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FLIGHT INFORMATION Tab on my Universe:

At the moment I have: New York JFK Airport Arrivals, Brussels National Airport Arrivals and London Heatrow Arrivals. I am not able to get the French Paris CDG .
If NY and Brussels are Ok, the London Heatrow is too big and not well centered but is working.

Google robot already found 745 Netvibes Universes & Modules

if you make a search with Google with the string: "site:www.netvibes" you will find today 745 Universes and Modules

My Universe, http://www.netvibes.com/netviberexperience is there. And yours ?

If you do not want to check all the results just add also your Universe' name in the search box ;).

I have a lot to choose from for my Best Universes by NetEx.

Total number of Modules (Multi-Feeds Content Widgets from Media sources) is 203.

Themed Public Netvibes Universes: the new way to choose Content

Hi,

waiting for the General relase of Ginger to all Netviber users and also thinking at the millions of potential "future non-geek user users" for Netvibes I would like to propose a new way to offer Content on Netvibes: Themed Public Universes.

The Search method works only if you know what you want, but we do not always know what we would like. That is why, other people experience is valuable (so, we read others' feed, twitters, friends status,... ) but that way is not an organized way.

But Netvibes' Ginger with the Public Universe is the solution with the "Send to your Private Page/Public Universe" option !

We need a series of Themed Universes : NEWS , FINANCE, FOOD, TRAVEL, SPORT, GAMES, ... by LANGUAGE and by COUNTRY ?
Those Dedicated Universes would be made of "selected" and relieable widgets and news.

The users could visit those Themed Universes and with just one click send all the news, widgets, pics, maps, notes, comments, ideas he has just discovered on its own Netvibes Page.

From the TRAVEL Universe, let's say, I would see and read the best travel widgets aggregated by TABs: Airlines, Tourist Guides, Destinations, Last minutes, ...
Or Imagine the Touristic Brazil Universe: Beaches, Food, Football, Carnival, Music, Unknown Brazil, ...

In an humble way, is what I try to achieve with my Netviber Experience Universe all dedicated to the Netvibes World... ;) but others are going the same way...

Look here, is WZD.com a Netvibes clone that I discovered some time ago, that is proposing 2 Themed Universes: a "Finance Universe" and an "Enterprise Universe": dozens of Tabs with dozens of Widgets selected by subject. BUT NO, I DO NOT READ KOREAN ;)

How to track visitors on your Netvibes Universe

If you want to know How many Visitors came to to visit your Universe, Where they came from, How long they stayied well you need to use a tracker.

The solution came from a post by jnuk on his AcideWeb a French Blog:

Go to Google Analytics and sign in for the service (you need a Gmail email) . Google Analytics is free to all advertisers, publishers, and site owners and YES with your Universe on Netvibes you are a site owner!

Follow the simple instructions, copy/paste the tracker in the ADD CONTENT/ESSENTIAL WIDEGTES/HTML widget. Google Analytics offers you 2 trackers, I choose the ga.js (do not ask why, I do not know, but it works ;) ).

In the instructions, Google suggested to put the tracker before the CLOSE BODY tag or paste the code segment into the bottom of your content, immediately before the tag of each page you are planning to track.
I put the The HTML model in my first TAB of my Public Universe but I think it could work any where... (to be confirmed).

Wait at least 24h before checking the results...

We need more data from experts on this but it is a start...

Netvibes Ginger will bring a new battle for "domain" names ?

Hi,

With the Ginger release coming for everyone and the possibility for anyone to choose his preferred Universe Name, there is a high risk of finding a lot of Coca-cola, Nike, Prada Universes... like what happened during the Internet Domain names war.

Of course Brand Names are subject to the Netvibes -Terms of Service (ToS) stating:

Conduct of Users:...
"...not to make available any content that you do not have the lawful right to transmit (including any content that would violate any confidentiality or fiduciary obligations you might have), that would infringe the intellectual or proprietary rights of any third party (including, but not limited to, copyright, trademark, service mark or patent rights), or that would violate the right of privacy or publicity of any public or non-public persons;"

But what about Institutions like: Onu, Unicef, European Parliament or Public Names like: Carla Bruni, George Clooney, Barack Obama, ... ? Are they going to be available for an Universe name ?

Of course, Netvibes ToS has a prevision by which:

"In case of any violation of the above, Netvibes reserves the right to cancel or rename your account and/or to block you from accessing the Site as well as to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation, governmental request or partner request, at its sole discretion. Netvibes also reserves the right to block the distribution of Your Content or any Third-Party Content through the Service."

and also:

"Netvibes provides its users (“You”), for a non-commercial personal use, with a fully-customizable Site" but it will be difficult to check every Universe...

But it will be interesting to see what names will flourish... and if that could also be a source of revenues for Netibes.
